The Jakarta Government and the Blitar City Government are collaborating to strengthen food security through the agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries sectors.
Cooperation we are doing today can bring goodness to both regions
This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a contract between Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, and Blitar Mayor, Syauqul Muhibbin, at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (8/15).
According to him, this cooperation is a manifestation of our shared commitment to improve the performance of both local governments. He is grateful that the agreement can be realized, considering that one of Blitar's strengths lies in the livestock sector.
City Govt Develops 100 Food Self-Sufficient Villages for Food Security"Hopefully, the cooperation we are doing today can bring goodness to both regions. I always emphasize that the cooperation should not only benefit one party—such as Jakarta alone. Both regions must gain benefits and advantages from this cooperation," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Government's press release, Friday (8/15).
He also appreciated Perumda Pasar Jaya, Perumda Dharma Jaya, and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya as BUMD Jakarta in the food sector who have established partnerships with PT Karminah Sejahtera Abadi and CV Karya Bhakti Sejahtera Farm.
The form of cooperation includes strengthening marketing and trade of regional products, providing meat commodities in Jakarta, and developing chicken egg businesses which are the flagship commodities of Blitar City.
"I also appreciate the BUMD in Blitar City and Jakarta for this cooperation. Through planned implementation and continuous supervision, I am confident that this collaboration will have a positive impact, both on improving the welfare of farmers, livestock breeders, and entrepreneurs in Blitar City, and on fulfilling the food needs of Jakarta's residents," he expressed,
Blitar Mayor, Syauqul Muhibbin stated, the region, as a producer of livestock, agricultural, and fishery products, desires an economic circulation involving the Jakarta Government. Hopefully, the government support could drive the economic growth of Blitar City through the provision of various necessities to produce quality food products.
"Hope this cooperation can develop into inter-regional partnerships, improve the welfare of the Blitar people, and provide benefits for the government and residents of Jakarta," he explained.
Jakarta and Blitar City have great partnership potential, especially in the food security sector. As a trading and distribution hub, Jakarta needs a stable and sustainable food supply. Blitar has a high capacity for food commodity production, including a laying hen business with a production of 23 tons of eggs per day and broiler poultry reaching 125 tons per harvest.
To promote growth in the food sector, stronger cross-regional synergy is needed, both through Government to Government (G2G) and Business to Business (B2B) schemes. On this occasion, both regions agreed on partnerships in various fields, namely food security; human resource development; empowerment of cooperatives, small, and medium enterprises; and the development of BUMD.
